In the world of home updates, this one is not the most exciting, but it was very necessary! This was actually done prior to Christmas but I did not have this blog then so I’m posting about it now.
My condo has two floors, my main floor that has the living room, kitchen, half bathroom, and laundry room, and the upstairs that has the bedrooms and full bathroom. The stairs that connect the two are kind of steep and I was surprised when I looked at this place that it didn’t have a hand rail for the staircase. I thought it was a standard safety item that you need to have.
My first step was buying the brackets to hold up the rail. I got these nice brushed nickel brackets that look great! I actually bought six but it turns out I only needed four.
My next step was figuring out how to get a 12 foot long railing from Lowe’s back to my condo and put it up. Hmmmm……
Luckily I found a handyman who could do this for me and he got the new hand rail up pretty quickly. Time for the before and after pics!

Much better now! As you can see, it is an unfinished wood rail. I told the handyman I didn’t care and to just put it up. But that was probably not the best idea. So technically this project is not done. The wood rail at least needs to be sealed or perhaps stained. That is a project for another day! For now I’m glad it’s up and safer for my daughter when going up and down the stairs. Thanks for reading! 🙂
